Etymology

From thermo- +‎ baric, derived from the Ancient Greek words for “heat” and “pressure”: θερμοβαρικός (thermobarikós), from θερμός (thermós, hot) + βάρος (báros, weight, pressure) + -ικός (-ikós, -ic).
