[edit]Compound of sting (“sting”) + pinne (“stick”). Coined by Swedish journalist Gösta Ollén, based on the slogan of the newspaper Expressen, "Den har sting!" ("It has sting!"), who sold them as promotional material.[1] First attested in 1966[2].
