From Ottoman Turkish صارقمق (sarkmak, to hang loosely, lean down), from Proto-Turkic [Term?]. Cognate to Khorezmian Turkic [script needed] (sark-, to hang limply), Kipchak [Arabic needed] (sark-, to hang down).[1]
