Italian

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /re.in.teˈɡra.re/[1]
  • Rhymes: -are
  • Hyphenation: re‧in‧te‧grà‧re

Verb

[edit]

reintegràre (first-person singular present reìntegro, first-person singular past historic reintegrài, past participle reintegràto, auxiliary avére)

  1. (transitive) to reinstate
  2. (transitive) to reintegrate
  3. (transitive) to replenish, to restore

Usage notes

[edit]
  • The stressed-form pronunciation io reìntegro is the only possibility. For the alternative form rintegrare, the traditional-minded Dizionario d'Ortografia e di Pronunzia prescribes io rintègro, while Treccani mentions this pronunciation as "literary" and "uncommon" (but specifies io rìntegro as even less common). Canepari's modern-minded Dizionario di Pronuncia Italiana prescribes io rìntegro, and marks io rintègro as dispreferred and aulica (archaic or literary).
