Borrowed from Malay pikir, fikir (to discuss, to reflect upon), from Arabic فِكْر (fikr, thought, idea, opinion; consideration, reflection), related to فَكَرَ (fakara, to think, to ponder over; to reflect, to consider) and to فَكَّرَ (fakkara, to think, to ponder over; to reflect, to consider).
