  1. Any of several species of perennial plant in the genus Lepidium (originally specifically dittander, species Lepidium latifolium), which is a member of the mustard and cabbage family. [from 16th c.]

      Our common Pepperwort sends forth somewhat long and broad leaves, of a light bluish-green colour, finely dented about the edges and pointed at the ends []
