Feminine form of näder. From Old Norse naðra, feminine form of naðr (adder, snake in general), from Proto-Germanic *nadrǭ (adder, snake in general). Cogngate to Icelandic naðra, feminine form of naður (adder). Compare English adder (viper) vs deaf adder (slowworm).
