Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish مجذوب (mecẕub, “attracted, whose thoughts are attracted to God, so as to be careless of earthly things, hence (vulgar) crazy”),[1][2] from Arabic مَجْذُوب (majḏūb), passive participle of جَذَبَ (jaḏaba, “to attract, to pull, to persuade”).[3]
