manlift (sense 2) A piece of portable equipment consisting of a large cage, bucket, or basket at the end of an extensible boom, and used by workers to reach inaccessible places.
A manlift (sense 2) is differentiated from a cherry picker in that the manlift is usually mounted on a small piece of equipment and the cage or bucket is close to the ground. A cherry picker is always mounted on a truck or other vehicle, and it can reach much higher.
