[edit]kuningas (“king”) + -tar (“-ess”). Coined by Finnish explorer, historian and author Carl Axel Gottlund in 1828. The cooking sense originally from kuningatarhillo, making it a semantic loan from Swedish drottning (from drottningsylt)
