- A hangover caused by drinking too much alcohol

- (by extension) Withdrawal symptoms caused by the wear-off of other intoxicants or medication
- (by extension, often followed by a specifying adjective) Repentance, contrition
- moraalinen krapula ― drinker's remorse (literally, “moral hangover”)
- Fyysisen krapulan lisäksi kärsin koko päivän moraalisesta krapulasta.
- In addition to physical hangover, I suffered all day from drinker's remorse.
Usage notes
[edit]In Finnish the word "krapula" and its derivatives refer exclusively to the state of hangover, whereas in English "crapula" refers more widely to the consequences of overdrinking and overeating.
