Particularly: “Could we get more clarification on the claim that this word was "coined"? A Malay dictionary from 1901[1] shows this word already listed in it with the exact same definition, making the claim seem possibly false.”

From Arabic إِعْلَان (ʔiʕlān).[2] Coined by Indonesian journalist Soedardjo Tjokrosisworo in 1951 with intention to replace adpertensi (current spelling advertensi).
