1. Contraction of îi am.
   1. îi as dative of el or ea

      i-am dat ei cartea ― I gave her the book

      i-am dat lui cartea ― I gave him the book

   2. îi as accusative of ei

      i-am trezit pe ei la șapte dimineața ― I woke them up at seven in the morning.

      i-am trezit pe copiii mei la opt dimineața ― I woke my kids up at eight in the morning.

Usage notes

Like all such contractions in Romanian, i-am has no lexical meaning by itself.
