[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dílˀgas, from Proto-Indo-European *dl̥h₁gʰós. Compare Lithuanian ìlgas (“long (size or time)”), Latvian il̃gs (“long (time)”), Old Prussian ilga, ilgi (“for long”).[1][2]
