[edit]From Ancient Greek ἑξαπλᾶ (hexaplâ), neuter plural of ἑξαπλοῦς (hexaploûs, “sixfold”), from ἑξα- (hexa-, “hexa-: six”) + -πλόος (-plóos, “-fold”).
