[edit]From Proto-Tai *kloːŋᴬ (“drum”). Cognate with Thai กลอง (glɔɔng), Lao ກອງ (kǭng), Lü ᦂᦸᧂ (k̇oang), Shan ၵွင် (kǎung), Ahom 𑜀𑜨𑜂𑜫 (koṅ). Compare Vietnamese trống.
