[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *gъrtnǫti (dialectal Russian горну́ть (gornútʹ), Polish garnąć), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ger- (Latin grex, Ancient Greek ἀγείρω (ageírō)).
