Etymology

[edit]

From Ancient Greek γλωχίς (glōkhís, point, barb) + -iate, alternative form of +‎ -ate (adjective-forming suffix).

This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.
Particularly: “the -d(i)- is unetymological, is it some wrongly derivated greek stem (based on -ις) or am i just unfamiliar?”

Adjective

[edit]
