Etymology

First attested in 1395. Borrowed from a South Slavic language. Compare Bulgarian грозд (grozd, bunch of grapes), dialectal Bulgarian грезд (grezd, spigot), Serbo-Croatian grozd ([bunch of] grapes), Slovene grȍzd (id.), Old Church Slavonic гроздъ (grozdŭ, id.).[1]
