Inherited from Ottoman Turkish كچنلرده (geçenlerde),[1][2] from كچمك (geçmek),[3] equivalent to geç- (to pass through, by, into) +‎ -en (adjectival participle suffix) +‎ -ler (plural suffix) +‎ -de (locative suffix), literally in the ones that have passed.
