[edit]From Ottoman Turkish غجیردی (ġıcırdı, ġıcırtı, “a continued creaking or rustling”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish غجیر (ġıcır, “onomatopoeic for; creaking (leather), rustling sound”),[2] morphologically gıcır + -tı.
