[edit]Related to Turkish gıcırtı (“the sound of rubbing hard objects together”). Cognate with Turkmen gyjyrdamak, Kyrgyz кыйчылдоо (kıycıldoo), Uzbek gʻichilamoq, Uyghur غۇچۇرلىماق (ghuchurlimaq), perhaps also Tuvan кижиир (kijiir, “to itch”). See also Turkish gıcık.
