  1. to go down, to go under (sink, usually of a ship)
    Synonyms: förlisa, gå i kvav, sjunka
    Skeppet gick under i en storm på Tyska bukten
    The ship went down in a storm in the German Bight
    gå under med man och allt
    go down with all hands ("with men and everything" – idiomatic)
  2. to be destroyed, to go under (usually of something larger, more complex, and more abstract)
    Vår civilisation riskerar att gå under
    Our civilization risks being destroyed
    När kommer jorden gå under?
    When will the world end?
    Företag som inte anpassar sig till den nya trenden kommer gå under
    Companies that do not adapt to the new trend will go under
