farë
Appearance
Albanian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Albanian *(s)parā, from Proto-Indo-European *sporéh₂ < *sper- (“to spread out”). Compare Ancient Greek σπόρος (spóros, “seed”).[1][2][3] Interpreting farë (“affinity, kind”) as a different word from farë (“seed", semen”), the former is considered by some as a loanword from Lombardic fara (“military clan”).[3]
