Usage notes
[edit]In a main clause, the separable part eruit can be further separated when a predicate or adverb is added:

- I look good.
- Je ziet er soms uit als een clown.
- You sometimes look like a clown.
In the infinitive and participle forms, the non-predicate parts then combine again:
- Ik wil er goed uitzien.

- Hij is altijd een er goed uitziende heer.
- He is always a good-looking gentleman.
- Hij heeft er altijd goed uitgezien.
- He has always been good-looking.
