Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اشكال (eşkāl, shapes, forms; figures; kinds),[1][2] from Arabic أَشْكَال (ʔaškāl), plural of شَكْل (šakl, likeness, model, pattern, shape, figure), verbal noun of شَكَلَ (šakala).[3]
