Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *dela, from *dʰeh₁-l-os, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰeh₁-l- (compare Latvian dêls (son), Old English delu (teat), Old Armenian դալ (dal)), from *dʰeh₁(y)- (to suck). Originally a neuter noun, as it appears in Buzuku's Meshari.[1]
