[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دیلك (dilek, “a wish, request, demand”),[1] from Ottoman Turkish دیلهمك (dilemek, “to wish for, to desire, to long for, to request”), from Proto-Turkic *tilek (“a wish, request”), from *tile- (“to wish”), from *til (“tongue”),[2][3] equivalent to dile- + -k.
