[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تمنی (temenni, “a desiring in one's heart and mind, an asking for, a requesting”),[1] from Arabic تَمَنٍّ (tamannin), verbal noun of تَمَنَّى (tamannā, “to wish for, to desire”).[2]
