dớp

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Vietnamese

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Doublet of nhớp. The ‹nh-› vs. ‹d-› correspondence can also be seen in pairs such as nhện vs. dện, nhím vs. dím, nhừ vs. dừ, etc. Unlike those pairs however, which are pretty much synonymous, this term seems to have undergone a semantical development from "dirty" > "bad luck".
