Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish دورتمك (dürtmek, to push; shove; thrust; poke), from Old Turkic türt- (to butter).[1] Relation in "to push; shove" < "to rub; butter" is unclear. Cognate with Kyrgyz түртүү (türtüü, to push, poke), Uzbek turtmoq (to push, poke).
