[edit]Etymology
[edit]Sino-Vietnamese word from 肝腸, composed of 肝 (“liver”) and 腸 (“intestines”).
Like đoạn trường, the diphthongized trường is currently most common reading here for the morpheme 腸, instead of the monophthongal tràng as in đại tràng or manh tràng.
