[edit]Borrowed from Spanish alferecía, from Andalusian Arabic الفَالِجِيَّة (al-falijíyya), from Arabic فَالِج (fālij, “stroke”), from Aramaic פָּלְגָּא / ܦܴܠܓܳܐ (pālgā), from Ancient Greek πλῆξις, πληγή (plêxis, plēgḗ).
