[edit]From the first three letters of the Arabic alphabet, Arabic أَلِف بَاء تَاء (ʔalif bāʔ tāʔ), Coined by Paul Rodriguez Verzosa in 1914 presumably under the erroneous assumption that Baybayin was derived from it. Compare Malay alif-ba-ta.
