[edit]Coined by Austrian zoologist Helmut Otto Hofer in 1952 as German Airorhynchie, from Ancient Greek ἀείρω (aeírō, “to raise, lift”) + ῥῠ́γχος (rhŭ́nkhos, “snout”).[1]
