[edit]From Proto-Turkic *āčïk-, ultimately from Proto-Turkic *āč-. Cognate with Turkish acıkmak, Azerbaijani acıqmaq, acmaq, Turkmen ājykmak, Southern Altai ачана (ačana, “hunger”), etc.
