What system is this?

[edit]

@Atitarev, Suzukaze-c What system is this module converting to? It seems really weird and contains non-Latin characters like ь. Perhaps we should use one of these systems instead. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:13, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Suzukaze-c, Justinrleung: Can I suggest to transliterate letter "ы" as 'ɨ' instead of the Cyrillic 'ь'? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 10:57, 18 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
It seems like a reasonable alternative to me. —Suzukaze-c 03:44, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: The use of 'ь' didn't make any sense to me. It's hard to make sense of it even for a fluent Cyrillic reader. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:50, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Definitely. Well, since we're at it, I changed Ƶ to Ř, to evoke Pinyin. —Suzukaze-c 03:54, 19 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

ž -> j, ч -> q

[edit]

@Suzukaze-c, Justinrleung: Hi, Would you agree to more changes: from ['җ'] = 'ž', ['ч'] = 'č'to ['җ'] = 'j', ['ч'] = 'q'? It would be easier to match to Mandarin for more words. I don't know if we can replace all the remaining diacritics, though. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:55, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Examples:
  1. (qián): чян či͡an-> qi͡an
  2. (jiǎng): җён ži͡on-> ji͡on
--Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:58, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure about this change: we also have (чуй), (чун), (җын).
I suppose we could transform ž and č to j and q before i. But then it would be less of a transliteration. —Suzukaze-c 04:25, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Suzukaze-c: Oops, yes, you’re right. —Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:44, 3 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
(Honestly I'm bothered that the Dungan Cyrillic alphabet щ = Pinyin x is its own letter (新字母の唯一の大きな欠点 🤷). —Suzukaze-c 04:59, 3 February 2020 (UTC))Reply
