User:ToilBot for bot status

[edit]

Nomination: I hereby request the Bot flag for User:ToilBot for the following tedious tasks, to be performed automatically or semi-automatically with Pywikibot or JWB. Various people (I think User:DTLHS, User:Metaknowledge, and User:Victar) have suggested that I get a bot, so here goes finally.

  • fixing obviously incorrect headers, such as misspellings (1), miscapitalizations (2), and obvious mistakes (3, 4), in a more automated fashion (it's getting annoying having to type in corrections and manually save edits when so many of the incorrect headers could be fixed automatically according to a set of rules)
  • fixing incorrect characters (Wiktionary:Beer parlour/2019/April#Semi-automatic correction of characters)
    • replacing ه (ARABIC LETTER HEH) in Kurdish languages with either ھ (ARABIC LETTER HEH DOACHASHMEE) or ە (ARABIC LETTER AE) as described here
    • fixing mixed Cyrillic and Latin script by replacing lookalike Cyrillic characters with Latin ones in Latin-script terms or transliterations or lookalike Latin characters with Cyrillic characters in Cyrillic-script terms (1, 2)
  • fixing incorrect lookalike Arabic-script letters, for instance replacing ي (ARABIC LETTER YEH) with ی (ARABIC LETTER FARSI YEH) in Persian and Urdu terms (1), and the reverse in Arabic terms (2)
  • various other noncontroversial tasks, such as moving template parameters around by request of template creators

@Chuck Entz, SemperBlotto It seems a bureaucrat is needed to actually mark the bot as such. — surjection?05:35, 13 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done Done I distinctly remember, in the days before I became a bureaucrat, seeing bot status as one of the things I could change as a plain admin. Has this changed? There should be a link to "Change user groups" in the sidebar of the User, User talk or Special:Contributions pages for the user, and things like bot, flood flag and autopatroller should be in the "Groups you can change" column. Chuck Entz (talk) 02:30, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I guess it has changed. As an admin, when I view a user's rights with Special:UserRights, "bot" is in the "Groups you cannot change" column; "Flood flag" is in the "Groups you can change" column though. — Eru·tuon 03:46, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
