[edit]- (Teylingen) First attested as vuroholz, vuoreholt and voreholt in the first half of the 11th century. Compound of Old Dutch fora (“forward, front-”) and holt (“rising deciduous forest”).
- (Den Haag) Attested as t'Voorhout in 1609. Compound of voor (“in front of”) and hout (“rising deciduous forest”) (referring here to the Haagse Bos forest).
