  • (municipality) Named after Teijlingen. The municipality opted to use a different spelling for the municipal name in order to clearly distinguish it from the hamlet.
  • (hamlet) Derived from Van Teijlingen (a noble surname). The hamlet was named after the family which owned it and the polder and legal district around it.
