Hi there. All of your entries need formatting properly. See the following welcome links. SemperBlotto 08:36, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary!
Shouldn't that be Bohemian, not bohemian? Can you provide citations to attest that sense? (see WT:CFI). --EncycloPetey 00:44, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, my mistake, it should be under Bohemian not bohemian could you move it for me? --Dictionman 22:58, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- The definition "a Gypsy" already exists on that page. --EncycloPetey 00:48, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Here again, shouldn't the definition you added go under Kama, not kama? Wiktionary is case-sensitive. If a word is always capitalized, then it should be given an entry under that capitalization. --EncycloPetey 00:49, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Again; sorry, my mistake. I will try to be more case-sensitive in my contributions. Sorry if I am bothering you.
- I'd much rather be helping someone willing to learn than combatting vandalism :) --EncycloPetey 01:13, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again, but I have a question, as text does not contain intonation or sarcasm, I am unsure whether you are pleased to help me as I am willing to learn, or that you are implying that I am a vandal. I mean no insult, just clarification of expression. --Dictionman 01:25, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- The smiley ( :) ) at the end was to let you know I was being friendly and pleased to help you. --EncycloPetey 01:10, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. Just making sure. And sorry to bother you again. :) --Dictionman 01:13, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
You haven't given it a ===part of speech=== section. And your plural doesn't look right. SemperBlotto 17:05, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- The plural should be subpoenas ad testificandum not subpoena ad testificandums. How do you edit the en-noun section to do that? --Dictionman 17:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- I've done it for you. Don't worry about the red link - it'll get done one day. SemperBlotto 17:14, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks :) --Dictionman 17:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
