- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Regarding this edit, deletions are requested using {{delete}} or {{rfd}}. However, the question of whether a word form is "wrong" is usually decided at WT:RFV which has its own {{rfv}} template. — Keφr 16:55, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Templates
[edit]When you use a template like {{rfp}} and don't include the required parameter(s), it causes a module error and the template doesn't do what it's supposed to do. If you click Show preview instead of Save page once, you'll be able to spot any module errors (or other errors, for that matter) and fix them. If I'm not sure what the required parameters are, I always go to the bottom of page after clicking Show preview: there are links there to all of the templates used in the section you're editing. If you right-click/command-click to view the template page in another tab, there's usually documentation telling you what the parameters are. Once you have everything right, then you can click on Save page. Never leave a page with a module error- it looks awful, the template doesn't do what you want it to do, and it puts the page in a cleanup category so grumpy people like me end up fixing your mistake and complaining about it on your talk page.
