On the usage of EDAL

[edit]

The admins have banned the usage of EDAL as it is not a reliable source and encourages the Altaic theory, which is conventionally rejected, you can check out Vovin, Alexander (2005) - The End of the Altaic Controversy for more on it.

Instead I encourage you to use other sources, such as Clauson, Gerard (1972) - An Etymological Dictionary of Pre-Thirteenth-Century Turkish, Räsänen ,Martti (1969) - Versuch Eines Etymologischen Wörterbuchs Der Türksprachen, Etimologičeskij slovarʹ tjurkskix jazykov which consists of 7 volumes, Róna-Tas, András (2011) - West Old Turkic Loanwords in Hungarian consisting of 2 volumes, Eren, Hasan (1999) - Türk Dilinin Etimolojik Sözlüğü...

...as well as many other sources that I won't list here for the sake of brevity, but if you want I can add more. :)

Thank you for your attention and have a good day! Yorınçga573 (talk) 19:51, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Türkische Turfantexte

[edit]

In your recent edit you added content from Türkische Turfantexte 1-9, do you have a pdf for these? If so can you send it over and if it is a physical book can you tell me where you've gotten it from?

Thank you already! :) @AmaçsızBirKişi (Pinging incase Wiktionary doesn't send a notification automatically) Yorınçga573 (talk) 08:49, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I added the Türkische Turfantexte because it was given on Nişanyansözlük[1], but I do have .pdfs for these. A legitimate way to get these texts was by AdW's site[2], but it 404's on me, don't know if it or its contents was archived somewhere.
I don't know if sharing pirated content over Wikipedia is allowed, so I'll leave to you to find these by yourself ;) Türkische Turfantexte in verbindung mit. DrA. von Gabain und DrG. R. Rachmati herausgegeben von Prof. DrW. Bang. VI. Das Buddhistische Sūtra Säkiz Yükmäk. (Extract from the Sitzungberichte der Preussischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Phil.-Hist. Klasse, 1934, X.) and Manichäisch-türkische Texte. Texte, Übersetzung, Anmerkungen. Mit 178 Faksimiles auf 56 Tafeln (Schriften zur Geschichte und Kultur des Alten Orients. Berliner Turfantexte. 5).
Although I don't recommmend it per se, you can use [3] and other sections on that website to find texts related to Turfantexte aswell, at least ones that do not lead to dead links right away. Also this [4].
Happy reading :) AmaçsızBirKişi (talk) 09:27, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I was able to find I-V but not the other ones 😭, well I'll keep looking anyway, idk why its so hard to find pdfs of these, thank you for the help anyway. Yorınçga573 (talk) 09:50, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
