[edit]Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.
If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.
These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:
- Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
- Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
- Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
- If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
- If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
- Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (
~~~~
) which automatically produces your username and timestamp. - You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.
Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary! (forgot to give you your welcome message, so here you go :) )
Also, I would love to invite you to join our Discord server if you like, it's proven useful for quick communications. Anyway, welcome, and happy editing! Thadh (talk) 11:04, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
[edit]Here is a big collection of dictionaries online https://dict.fu-lab.ru/. Entries from wiktionary can be linked directly to them. I edited Udmurt-Russian dictionary template you used a lot recently. Alcenter (talk) 04:25, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I was already familiar with https://dict.fu-lab.ru/, but thanks anyway! Илья А. Латушкин (talk) 07:46, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
ӟечбур
[edit]Is the Udmurt word ӟечбур really suffixed with -бур?
Thanks for reading. -- Apisite (talk) 09:37, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for asking! I suppose it is more likely to be a compound, but I'll look into it as soon as I have some more time. Илья А. Латушкин (talk) 09:53, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
тылкорт
[edit]Does the Udmurt word тылкорт really mean "tinderbox" in English?
I'm asking to make sure. -- Apisite (talk) 06:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, it does. You can always check it yourself if you want, the dictionary is also available online. Илья А. Латушкин (talk) 14:50, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
