Why no passive?

[edit]

A lot of words with -ալ have passives. At least add an option. GareginRA (talk) 07:30, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

They don't. Those are the passives of the respective causatives: --Vahag (talk) 16:38, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Hovsepig, the passive belongs to the paradigm of the causative. --Vahag (talk) 20:06, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Vahagn Petrosyan: ah, I would disagree with that, but eh as long those words are somewhere in the system then I’m happy. Though for a word like կարդացվել “to be read”, doenst the meaning show that this verb is derived from կարդալ and not կարդացնել “to cause to read”? Hovsepig (talk) 20:16, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Maybe the meaning does show that, but formally it is part of the causative paradigm. Note that all four results in eanc.net for կարդացվել include the tag "caus". Note also the symmetry:
