This template should be used just under the ‘Verb’ header for Egyptian verbs, specifying the verb root class (and thus the conjugation) and the hieroglyphic writing.

Basic usage is

  • {{egy-verb|class|head=<hiero></hiero>}}

Parameters

|1= or |class=
The verb root class, or compound if the verb is compound. Can be omitted if unknown. The following codes can be used (different authors tend to merge some of these classes; see Appendix:Egyptian verbs for details):
  • 2-lit: strong biliteral
  • 2ae-inf: second weak
  • 2ae-gem: second geminate
  • 3-lit: strong triliteral
  • 3ae-inf: third weak
  • 3ae-gem: third geminate
  • 4-lit: strong quadriliteral
  • 4ae-inf: fourth weak
  • 5-lit: strong quinquiliteral
  • 5ae-inf: fifth weak
  • 6-lit: strong hexaliteral
  • caus-2-lit: causative strong biliteral
  • caus-2ae-gem: causative second geminate
  • caus-3-lit: causative strong triliteral
  • caus-3ae-inf: causative third weak
  • caus-3ae-gem: causative third geminate
  • caus-4-lit: causative strong quadriliteral
  • caus-4ae-inf: causative fourth weak
  • caus-5-lit: causative strong quinquiliteral
  • anom: anomalous
  • compound: compound
|2= or |class2=
An alternative verb root class, mostly for cases where the attested forms of the verb don’t give enough information to choose between two different paradigms.
|head=
Specify the hieroglyphic writing here, enclosed in WikiHiero tags (<hiero></hiero>).
|head2=
An alternative hieroglyphic writing; preferably do not use this, but use an ‘Alternative forms’ subheader instead.
|cat2=
An optional second part-of-speech category for the word; see {{head}}.
