Template:Swadesh list family/documentation
Appearance
This template generates the introduction text and categorizes a Swadesh list that compares multiple languages of one or families.
Parameters
[edit]1=
- The family code. Example: 1=aus-pam if you are editing Appendix:Pama-Nyungan Swadesh lists.
- If you are editing a family/group of languages that Wiktionary does not use or have a code, just type the name of the family.
- Example: Appendix:Dené-Yeniseian Swadesh lists, this parameter is just Dené-Yeniseian rather than a code
2=, 3=, etc.
- All the language codes belonging to the family. They are all mentioned in the text together with the family.
family2=, family3=
- More family codes if necessary. Example with two families together: Appendix:Algonquian and Iroquoian Swadesh lists.
compare1=, compare2=, compare3=
- Language codes not belonging to the family for comparison. Example: Appendix:Siouan and Pawnee Swadesh lists, compare1= is the code of Pawnee because it is not actually a Siouan language.
nocode=1
- It adds the appendix to clean-up category Category:Swadesh lists needing language codes in case all the language codes have not been found yet. It also changes the text with "(...) and others" to inform the reader that some languages are not mentioned in the text.
Categorization
[edit]This template adds the appendix the appendix to the following categories:
- Category:X languages (X is the language family, example: Category:Romance languages)
- Category:X appendices (X is the language, one for every language in the parameters, example: Category:German appendices)
- Category:Swadesh lists by family (as opposed to Category:Swadesh lists by language for Swadesh lists of each individual language)
- Category:Swadesh lists needing language codes (clean-up category for Swadesh lists that need some language codes to be included)
