Spanish origin?

@Carl Francis While a lot of Cebuano (as well as Tagalog) words are loaned from Spanish, you say that it is not loaned, but calqued from English, and given a translation patterned on Spanish. But, if you may havd not been aware of this, some loanwords from Spanish may have undergone semantic changes (changes in definition) that they are no longer meaning the same at most cases. If you think that is a calqued from English rather being loaned from Spanish, please discuss it first. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 04:35, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

You're the one who added an etymology without discusding it first. And, yeah, some newbie ordering people around.

With already a thousand edits, I would be no longer a newbie. Yet, that may still not enough, like what you may say.

@Carl Francis, Mar vin kaiser: Going back, several words from Spanish may rather be a calque of an English term. But looking at one discussion in Talk:telebisyon, there are some disagreement on origin of some Spanish loans whether it is an English or a Spanish loan. That may be likely the case of this word, but, if that will be from Spanish, that has undergone a change in defintion. Going back, is this word a calque rather than a loanword?
