Etymology of "telebisyon

[edit]

@Carl Francis The main reason why all dictionaries I look at point to a Spanish origin of the word "telebisyon" perhaps is because of its ultimate stress, which is from Spanish. It doesn't seem unlikely, because Spanish stayed as a principal language of use in the Philippines until the 60's and 70's. By then, only the selected elite spoke Spanish and most learned English. But the ultimate stress in the current form betrays the intention of borrowing from Spanish. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 08:23, 30 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
