“A well-known association football club in Brazil, headquartered in the city of São Paulo.” (in English and Portuguese).

- I'd say keep and add other teams, at least the major ones: Corinthians, Palmeiras, Santos, Flamengo, etc. I don't think WT:BRAND applies to them but, if anything, I believe many would pass rules on the likes of WT:BRAND since they are bound to be used in a way "independent of any parties with economic interest in the brand", in a way that "must not identify any such parties", etc., etc.
- Some of those have derived senses as synonyms/nicknames that could merit inclusion too: Mengão, Timão. And derived terms for fans of the teams: são paulino (fan of São Paulo), corinthiano (fan of Corinthians), palmeirense. And also nicknames: porco, I don't remember others. (football is not really my specialty). --Daniel Carrero (talk) 16:15, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- Should we have a sense at Brazil for the Brazilian men's football team, the woman's football team, the beach volley ball team, the hockey team, the Olympic team (and so on). Delete. Renard Migrant (talk) 23:06, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- Delete per RM, whose logic is backed up by precedent at Talk:UCLA. @Daniel Carrero, you could add those as plurals if the singular, referring to a player on that team, is attested; compare Giant. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 23:18, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

- Delete: Most cities have a soccer club primarily referred to by the name of the city. Except in cases where two city's clubs are facing one another, the definition is patently obvious. Purplebackpack89 05:15, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Delete very much per Talk:UCLA. Virtually every sports team from every city (and in some cases from a state or country) is referred to from time to time by their geographic designation rather than a formal team name. This is a characteristic of place names, not a different meaning. bd2412 T 15:27, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree with bd2412's reasoning. P Aculeius (talk) 00:06, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
